Centre Lodge #23: Part of Indiana History!

Centre Lodge #23 was chartered in 1823 and has been an active part of Indiana history for almost 200 years. From 1823 to 1909 our Lodge was located in many places according to what was available. In 1904, the Lodges in the Indianapolis area formed the Indianapolis Masonic Temple Association with the intention of building a temple to be the home of the Lodges, Chapter and Commandry currently using space in the Grand Lodge Masonic Temple. After the Grand Lodge Building was damaged by fire in 1906, the Indiana Masonic Temple Association along with the Grand Lodge built the Masonic Temple on the corner of Illinois Street and North Street (completed in 1909 ) where we have remained located to this date. The Temple Building contains the Grand Lodge Offices, an Auditorium, a second floor dining room, four lodge rooms for the Masonic Lodges and the Eastern Star on the 3rd and 5th floors and two lodge rooms for the York Rite on the 7th floor. Centre Lodge meets on Wednesday nights in the lodge room on the 3rd floor south.
